Mr. Donald B admitted to Arden Place of Grapevine following a hospitalization for a below the knee amputation. He presented so deconditioned that he required maximum assistance with his ADLs and transfers. He couldn’t tolerate activities out of the bed and was ordered to have a mechanically altered diet due to weakness! A specific rehabilitation program was designed by our therapy team, to improve his mobility, regain his independence and return to his prior level of function.
After receiving his prosthetic and completing weeks of hard work with physical, occupational and speech therapy, Mr. B not only met, but also exceeded most of his goals, including an upgraded diet! He put the therapists to work creating additional challenging tasks for him. Upon his discharge from skilled therapy services, Mr. B was able to complete simple meal prep and housekeeping tasks along with performing transfers and ambulation independently with an assistive device. Thank you, Mr. B for trusting us with your rehab needs. We wish you continued success!
